She took off the with Q-tip container after her bath, and I gave her 5 minutes of naked time while I got dressed for the day. Seemed like a good idea at the time.
It’s a bit early to write off the entire month of July, but I’m getting pretty close. Iris’s fever went away about a week ago, but neither of us are actually getting better. We’ve spent large bits of the last couple of days on the couch accumulating a drift of crumpled tissues in—ok, and around—the nearby waste basket.
She’s also teething again.
And Carl’s sister is in town, so we’ve been spending time with her and the kids too. Iris LOVES being with any and all cousins, and I love seeing her so excited and happy. On the other hand, it’s hard for a tiny person to absorb that level of stimulation, and—just like when we travel—she’s been having trouble winding down enough to sleep at bedtime and has been waking multiple times every night. I was up with her at 1:30 and 4:30 last night (Carl worked until midnight, so he got a free pass) and yeah. There is not enough coffee in the world for this kind of schedule.
It’s discouraging to have so little energy during the days, it’s irritating to feel just as sick today as I did last week, and it’s frustrating to have to shelve my writing projects. Or pretty much any projects that do not involve washing enough dishes to eat off of and keeping Iris safe/fed/clothed.
I’m not loving July so far. I guess the good news is that time seems to be going so fast it really doesn’t matter. Can’t believe we’re already more than half way through the month!
